Dr. Kelly Matthews teaches courses in teacher preparation and Irish literature, as well as supervising middle and high school English student teachers. Kelly began her career as a 10th grade English teacher at the Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Boston Public Schools. She was President of the American Conference for Irish Studies for the 2021-23 term and is the author of The Bell Magazine and the Representation of Irish Identity, published by Four Courts Press (Dublin) in 2012, as well as a forthcoming book about the early career of Irish playwright Brian Friel. She is also Coordinator of the Liberal Studies major and Director of the Framingham Teacher Residency AmeriCorps Program, a partnership between FSU and Framingham Public Schools.
